blow by

94ccummins, I notice you have an exhaust brake, this can be a cause of blow by too. What can happen is the exhaust side seal within the turbocharger can be blown, allowing the exhaust backpressure generated by the exhaust brake to bypass, the backpressure then goes down the oil drainback tube into the crankcase and out the breather tube. You can check it with the engine at normal operating temperature, look at the crankcase breather tube for blow by, then apply your exhaust brake. If you only see blowby with the exhaust brake applied then it could be the turbo seal OR bad exhaust valve guides. Blowby through the valve guides is more common on 24 valve engines then 12 valve engines as you have two exhaust valve guides per cylinder for the exhaust backpressure to travel up into the engine and out the crankcase vent tube. I hope this helps.
