Default Can any one help me KDP came out and need to fix how can I do this cheap?

My kdp came out and I am leakign oil not too bad though and I was told by the dealer that I just needed to change out the timing cover and gaskets. I know my way around my truck very well just want to make sure it gets done right. Is there any tip or tricks to the fix?

If your dowel pin did come out and your leaking oil it most likely cracked your timing case. I actually have a similar issue going on I have a small oil leak but its just enough to think it might not be my KDP.

well ya cant know the whole damage until ya take it apart, could possibly have some chipped up gears in there ..........I say get a new timing case cove, new front seal, new pin, build a tab for it then pull it down and go thru it real good.......this info may help

I have already bought the timing cover, gaskets, and the dowel pin.Your right I should probably just tear into it and cross my fingers and hope every thing looks good. Do I have to pull my camshaft to pull the cover? Thats what the dealer told me but I really don't trust them cause they just want to make money.

sounds like the dealer just wants yer money

you will need to take off the fan, belt, harmonic balancer, oil fill tube and the cover to get to the pin.....................just pray for no internal damage

Whitmore is right. The dealer wants your money and is lying to you.You just need to remove outer part of the cover after you remove the other stuff to gain access to the internal parts.

stay away from the dealers, they are idiots. and only want your money, if i was closer i would give ya a hand, everything comes apart and goes together preaty easy, you dont need any special tools to pull anything, except a torque wrench if ya need one, just lay everything out in the order you take it out and put it back in the same way, and make an offering to the diesel gods for no major damage,

As long as nothin inside is chewed up it's about a 3 hour project and only a little bit a cussin. Definitely not one of the harder projects you'll be doin. Fan is a little bit of a buggar if it's never been off, just because the bolts are hard to break lose where they're at, but other then that it's a cake walk.

If the timing case is broken you will have to pull the cam to replace the case you cannot remove it without pulling the cam.
