Default 95 46RE Won't Shift

I tried to find info on my problem, but didn't find anything quite like this. I had the original trans in a 95, worked great, but infrequently started not shifting into drive, when cold usually. Then one day it just quit shifting. Wouldn't go into reverse till I had it floored, and then it banged in, then it wouldn't shift at all to drive or od. Converter locked up though. Was told the valve body was bad. Got a new one from BD, worked great! For 3 weeks. Then it did the same thing, just all of a sudden. Was really busy, and got a low mile used rebuild to put in. Put the same valve body on it, adjusted my tv cable, and it worked like a dream, shifted great, pulled hard, everything.
Then one day, poof, the same thing, higher than normal 1st to 2nd, then hard to get into 3rd, then nothing, just stays there. I have checked the grounds, put in new grounds, pulled the pan and find the filter to be clean and the fluid still like new. But this time it sat for a few days and it just dumped a bunch of trans fluid out the tail shaft seal that I didn't take time to replace. I don't understand that one at all. There must be 4 quarts on the ground.
Why would it work fine for a while then start giving me fits, and seem to be intact internally?

if its the original trans out of a '95 Dodge CTD, it should be a 47RH, not a 46RE.....

sounds like just a leaking shaft seal as far as the fluid leak, tranny fluid is like blood you could paint a whole house with a cup full, some ideas could be a pcm problem a relay , also diesel minded had a threead on here about resetting the voltage for your shift pattern, and when you changed out your valve body did you also replace the electric govenor and pressure switches ??? i will call my tranny buddy tomorrow for some more ideas,
