Default Fuel Tank On The Dodge

I was recently informed by my ever observant wife, that while taking my truck to a horse show, the fuel tank had a slight leak. I called her dad, a farmer, and had him look at it. It appears that the leak is coming from where the tank rests on the front support. I dont know the severity of it, but I dont think its much more than a real slow drip. So. First idea. Buy a new custom tank. Get a bigger, better, stronger tank that will hold more fuel, therefore reducing fuel stops where diesel is high. WRONG. Not for $1000-$1200. Forget it. So my big rig driver buddy of mine and I talked it over, and we think a JB weld type deal is the way to go. Another option would be to weld it tradionally, with an arc welder. Just put some beads where the leak was coming from. I would like anyone's opinion on how I can fix this, keeping in mind I want to keep this relatively cheap. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I'll buy it man. Sight unseen. Let me know how you want to work out the shipping, and you receiving the money. I just want to make sure its the right kind, I really dont see why it wouldnt fit on there. The one I have is 35 gal and steel, a plastic one would cut weight as well. Tell ya what, PM me your number, I'll call you I got a cell phone here, and we'll work it out. I really appreciate it man. I couldnt find a used one ANYWHERE around, and the ones I did find out of state were outrageous. So get back at me, consider it sold!!

Be sure to throw your old one up here for sale. They're easy to seal provided it's just rubbed through and not corroded, and being a steel tank there might be some special interest. Being a metal tank though you should have a rubber seperator on the retainer strap that goes up against the tank that may not work with the plastic tank. Might need a set of new straps to go with the tank. I haven't seen a metal tank in years on anything short of a big rig.

Well I am pretty sure its a steel tank....I know it aint plastic....hmmmm food for thought. It should work....I dont see why not. Even with new straps. I'll get ahold of ya.

Yeah I dunno man. Like you said it could have been a chassis truck. It bafflels me too. I think the original owner damaged his original tank, and found an old tank, modified it, and put it in the truck. Who knows?
