Default Trans Cooler Quick Connects Popping Off

Truck:
96 Ram 2500, automatic trans, w/cummins

Has anyone else had this issue? I just installed a new 47re after the truck had been sitting for a year or two. I started it and let it idle in neutral until it was warm, then I backed up out of my driveway to try it out around the block. Thats when I noticed a river of ATF coming from my truck. I probably lost a good two quarts in a few feet. The clip looks undamaged and snaps right back in. I'm thinking of getting rid of these quick connects just in case something like this happens again, but at a time when I won't notice my trans pan emptying on the ground. I'd rather not chance a new transmission on a POS plastic clip. I'm assuming a few of you have gotten rid of these, if so, what did you replace it with?

Can you get a 5/16 or 3/8 high pressure hose to slide over the barb on the cooler? i would do that and double clamp with a high quality clamp.
