Default Drained Battery wrecks CD Player?!?

Alright guys, I have a Horton Clutch fan in my truck, wired a little different than its supposed to be, straight to the battery (so I can turn it on while the truck is off, don't ask me why, its just how I did it...). Anyways, I left the clutch fan on all day, all night, and most of the following day without running the truck (I took the shop truck home). Well needless to say when I got back in the truck it wouldn't do anything, dome lights wouldn't work... Nothing.

Well I got a jump from a buddy who works right across the street, and everything seemed fine once it was running, so I started driving home. Well I noticed about 10 minutes into my drive the Head unit wasn't powered up, so I popped off the faceplate and put it back in... still nothing. I turned the truck off, then back on, and it still won't work. There is no power button, so I know thats not it. What happened? Anyone run into this before? Its a nice Clarion unit, not an 'el cheapo, so I'm hoping I can do something to salvage it.

Any suggestions?

Im guess here but often there is a diode on the input to protect from transient voltages. Maybe this is as simple as replacing the diode?

Ummm... Never seen one before, is it in the unit or what? I don't mess with electronics, although I should ask my boss, he is an electrical engineer after all...

Sorry, I was thinking about my TV with the blown diode.

Towpig is right, check the fuse.

Yeah, I put the old stocker back in after yanking the CD player, checking the fuse, putting it in a different truck and trying it there... nothing. Not cool.

So, I need a new stereo, the stock unit has the weird volume ***, where you have to touch it just right to get it do anything, kinda like my ex . But seriously, you can turn the volume *** down, and it'll get louder, turn it up, and it'll get quieter. I think I know what I'm gonna do to it when I get a new CD player...
