Default twins to single charger..

i currently have hx-35 over ht3b twins. my buddy wants to to trade me his custom 64.5/74/14 for my twin set up.. just wondering how much power im going to loose, if any. i know the 35 housing is a major set back on my twins, but hell the twins should flow more air..

the hx35 is leaking im guessing, theres oil in the cold pipe and the charge pipe from the intercooler to intake manifold. bottom ht3b is clean, just usual soot.

i can break the tires loose in 3rd gear, on dry pavement. no brakes, just w-f-o and tires screaming.

i dont want to loose any power, as i haven't been outran yet and i outrun all the built commonrails and 6.7s around here. my ego can't take it.

would i be better off trading him? ive heard you can push 600 hp out of a 64.. not sure. if you cant see my sig, mods are 191 dv, 060 ofv, 4k kit, airdog 150, baby injectors (if not stockers) twins, (obviously) no plate, afc spring gone, wastegate blocked, and it's a 175 pump. ive got a nv4500, so that may help spool up. thanks!

a 64/74 can make 600hp but they are kinda laggy. your compounds will spool much faster and make for a more pleasurable drive. i personally would probably rebuild your hx and flip your buddy off. but its your truck.

I like your setup. I would do as said above. I have been wanting to do hx40 and ht3b to my 1/2 ton 12v conversion. I have the 3b just need the 40. Only difference on my setup is I swapped 4500 for g56 I know there weak I have exploded 2 on my 6.7. But they are great behind the 12v. Talk about smoke control

yeah i know its gonna be laggier. but shoot, i was testing yesterday, i went to 3rd from 2nd, and in 3rd around 1200-1400 rpms i hold it wide open, i get 10 lbs around 1700, and around 40 lbs at 2k, and full boost at 2200 rpms.. i dont figure the 64 will be much worse, i can put my 100 plate back in and play with it, im maxed fuel (as far as my pump is concerned) with no plate, no afc springs etc. were gonna switch friday, i mean it's all home made piping, i can build me another set of those twins for 1k, turbos included. i think im gonna go with a hx40 machined to a 62 over a true s480 next time.

Sounds like the set up manny of my friends are running and I can say, I think your better off going 40/3B ..

the 62/475 should be a nice set up .. not sure about the 480 .. what size ?

your set up should be making more than 10psi at 1700 rpm something is not right there. If it were me I would stay with your twins.

IMO there is not need for a s480 on a street truck unless your looking to make some good dyno numbers. With a 480 its going to be a pig until it finally gets lit.

94 12v, thats just mashing the go pedal. if i play with the brakes, i can have 25 lbs at 1500 rpms. i know i can/ would make it spool better with a plate and tuning etc, but hell with everything gutted etc, on these baby injectors im fully clean at max boost. no smoke what so ever. hell, slamming gears from 3-5 im cleaner than a efi live duramax. i need bigger injectors, but im gonna trade my friend, as it's my daily, and i dont have a week to rebuild/ balance my turbos, and it's starting to smoke white/blue a little when cold and a tiny bit when it's warm. i hope its just the oil from the turbo, at least.

also, what kinda numbers with the hx40(punched to a 62) and a s475 make? im going to be going with 5x.016s soon..

if your going to change turbos there are many better options than a hx40 for a secondary ... that being said depending on turbine choice for you s475 750-850 is doable

i know theres better options, but i know a guy (austin tate, tate cheater chargers, tater built turbo chargers, etc) that can build them to 62mm, 64mm, etc.. it would be cheaper than gettin a box 62 or so for a set of twins. i can get a s475 for around 700 so i'll probably go back to twins next year.. when i put studs in.

and capang goes the little hx40's shaft of whell better your truck than mine. put an s3 on top of a the s4 when the time comes. holsets are for stock trucks. and enjoy your super laggy new turbo. you will now smoke. buffy just threw his 64/74/14 in the gargage with a cammed out 12 valve 5x16 injectors yada yada for a stock turbo over an s466 and absolutly loves it. 60+ psi of boost that comes on around 1600 rpms vrs 2200. your in for a most likely regretful decision. thats just a big single for a 12 valve to be any fun on the street in almost all situations.
