unclamp the wastegate and keep your he351 that will solve a lot of the issues your having now. With the small housing it has the wastegate needs to be opperational just like hx35's. Without it opening drivepressure builds very quickly which leads to high egt's and loss of power.

I may try hooking it up just to help for now but still looking to upgrade from the 351, been looking at the agp 64/68/12 with the billet wheel. Direct bolt on for the common rail manifold and can't beat the price
|
Sorry ment 63/68/12

Hooked up the gate. Set for 25 which is useless at this point. Def not pulling the turbo just to rig up a custom wastegate actuator. So I will still be looking for a charger if any one has suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it

ok... we suggested and you didnt like the suggestions ... what more should we do ??? :s:
Seems kind strange that your haveing an issue with this turbo as a compunding set up .. guys run these to 600-800 hp and never have many issues ... so ... what exactly are you wanting again ???? we cant help what you shoot down as suggestions my friend .. not tryin to chew ur arse but ... suggestions made, 94 has a Sled pull truck, if your not going to listen to me ... ( 20 years of gearing up anything ) .. do please listen to him ... HE ACTUALLY does this for fun !!! |
Sorry if I seemed like I was shooting you guys down, I completely agree with the general sizing you were suggestion just was looking for a bit more specific examples of turbos and their specific benefits. Like a ps62 compared to a htt 62/65/13 etc. But I did find a turbo I think I'm set on in the general dimension range you suggested for a price that can't be beat and with good feed back from what I can find, an agp 63/68/12 with a billet wheel. And at 1500 and a direct replacement for the he351 it's a killer deal. If you guys have any experience with agp please share :) thanks for your input

Also FYI the super phat shafts use the 71mm turbine choices of 12 or 14 housing as well and the silver series uses the 73mm turbine 14 cm housing. All are t3 and all can be a direct drop in for 2nd or 3rd gens. |
That's a big thing for me at the moment. Getting something as close to drop in as possible as I'm running my cummins in a 96 Chevy 2500 and things are a bit tight on the turbo side. There's so much reading to do and I'm quite torn on the housing size and not sure if going with a 68 or 70 turbine would be beneficial in either direction. I'm basically set on a 63 compressor wheel but there are so many options out there at different price points and ease of installation as I really don't want to have to modify my dp but as long as my manifold will work with whatever turbo I choose changing to a hx40 flange wouldn't be the end of the world. I really appreciate all the insight as my turbo buying experience is limited and all I really have for info is forums. Not really a big diesel community here in winnipeg canada.

if your set on the 63mm compressor wheel the 68 turbine with a 12 or 13cm housing I think will be your best bet
|
Thanks, seems like that should work good for now and allow me to twin in the future. Going to look into htt's 63/68/13ss also maybe their 63.5/68/14 with the forge milled compressor wheel
