Ya got fuel to the pump and was smoking when cranking, found one problem my fuel pump would shut off while cranking, fixed that but still nothing. Shot a little ether to get it running to get the air out, ran it for a bit, shut it down wont restart

If you are getting fuel to the pump, timing is set properly, and the shutdown is not causing the issue there is a good chance that it is internal pump issues. and when it comes to the inside all i can do is tell you to call a few people that really know what they are talking about with those pumps. unfortunately i cannot diagnose a pump over the computer, i am not that knowledgeable on internals

I bleed the lines again still no change. I'm with u I think there is something internal not allowing it to build pressure, fuel is squinting to the fender when I bleed it though and it blows black when I rev it up. Sucks I work on diesels everyday and have built 700 hp common rails but this has me stumped

2nd thread with the exact same issue ... the Blue bird bus thread is exact same thing ..

Almost sounds like the IP not making the correct fuel pressure to pop injectors .. some smoke but no start ? How long will it run on the ether, does it sound like Its trying to run on fuel at all after the E bomb ?

U hit it with ether and it fires right up, runs on diesel. Idles revs up and stays running till u shut it off. Trying pin timing it and still no change.

I still say your fuel, either pressure is off or volume ... its all that can keep a pump from delivering fuel to inj ...

Just think were missing something here ... wish i was there to look and listen ....

Well I hate when these threads end with no answer. So here it goes. The valves hit the pistons and caused a lose in compression. I know this because it started knocking and metal shot out the exhaust

188/220 and valves just maybe set a little to tight. Or the cam gear was off a tooth
