I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 with a 360 gas in it now but i was wanting to drop a 12 valve in her. I was gunna beef up the front end and then find a engine. Ive found one that looks promising but i was wondering how would i connect the 96 12 valve engine harness to my 1998 ? Do they make adapters or would i have to splice all the wires or would it just be easier to get a 98 cummins to plug and play?

 

I don't believe you can plug a 96 cummins harness into a 98 harness. I think the connections would be different because of the origanal harness was from a gas motor, and the other was from a diesel.

I'm not sure if they make adaptors.
You should also put your question in the conversion section, to see if someone else has done this conversion and can help also.

I'm new to this site. What do u mean conversation section? Also did u mean that a 98 diesel would plug right into a 98 gas or would I need a ecm from that matching year? Also would it be hard to wire in a different ecm? I don't know **** about electronics. Just anything mechanical I can do

 

there is a secrion called "Conversions" it's a section for those ding engine/trans swaps from things like a diesel in a non diesel vehicle ..

Like a 4BT cummins in a ford ranger .. for instance ..
