Default fuel pressure

I installed some gauges a few weeks ago. I noticed my fuel pressure would be around 16-18psi. This seemed a little low so i changed my fuel filter now it makes around 16-18 at ideal and 18-22 cruising. I am assuming that my overflow valve is bad. but the other day i was going 55mph and noticed my psi bouncing from 22-18 very rapidly. is this a common problem when the overflow valve needs to be replaced? also i changed the primary filter but i read about a pre filter would this effect my fuel pressure. if anyone has had an experience like this any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you all.

Need to install a snubber ( which will limit the bouncing, which will kill the gauge ) .. and 30 is nice, anything less and your going south, spray pattern will suffer and your egt's will be a bit higher ... i just fixed my fuel system all up , was like 12-15 psi , then fixed a fuel leak, then it was 20, installed a new tork tek ofv , and now 30-32 psi , my EGT's have dropped an average of 200-300* , used to be able to get 1200*, now 900* is hard to get ( and i'm @ 90 mph when i get there finally ) ...

I do have a snubber installed.it just bounced the one day and has not done it sence must of been a freak deal. What have you noticed with your psi around 30? more power? worse milage? or anything of that sort.

Around 30 seems really snappy and less smoke too, mpg is up, as is the fun factor

My co worker said i may be able to shim it a little bit or is that not worth it and just buy the adjustable overflow valve. or have you not had any experience with this.

i have a snubber valve and today i stretched out my spring that is on the overflow valve. and going 55mph my fuel pressure would bounce 10-40 do i just have air in the system? it would not bounce that extreme if i went fifty or sixty it would jump 22-25. any advice would be appreciated

Mine didn't stop bouncing until I added a needle valve and orifice.

Actually, no, that isn't how it went down at all.
Mike at ISSPRO sent me a needle valve and orifice, after I installed the gauge without anything but the sensor and it went Lazer Loggins and told me nothing. Blame the mechanical lift pump. So Mike sent me the parts, I put them in, and it got way better.
Almost perfect.

Thanks to the "almost", I bought a snubber, having read lots of propaganda about it. Replaced the needle valve and orifice with the snubber. It was slightly better than nothing, but not as good as the needle valve and orifice.

Even though it doesn't make a damn bit of difference, I liked the idea of measuring FP at the lift pump (where the snubber fit) better than at the fuel filter (where the parts from Mike fit) and since I didn't want to abandon the investment, I screwed the needle valve/orifice contraption into the snubber. Boom... winning!
