Default water meth

Anybody ever try this? Ive done some reading on it. I see the kits are very expensive but you could make your own kit for about 100 bucks. Does it make a big difference? Is it harder on the engine and tranny? ive also saw that some people got better MPG. Anybody see and difference?

Bacically the fundimentals on H2o/Methenol ...it is real simple ...

As water and meth are injected it raises the cylinder pressure and the small amount of methenol lowers the flash point of the fuel in total .... making more complete fuel burn ... as you may know ... methenol has a cooling effect as it burns .... which lowers the EGT's in total ..

It is effective ... but with that said ... if a solenoid fails and sticks open and your truck is off .... well .... suck to be you ....

If i were to do a kit ... I would first have a good spot to put the injector(s) .... below the intake horn would be good .. allowing the "Boosted" air to carry the water/meth to the engine ....

I would also have a shut off valve of some nature to keep it from "Accidently" coming on or being enguaged W/o wanting it too .

the better MPGs are a result of replacing some of the diesel with methanol so you are just replacing one fuel for another, but if you can get the methanol for cheaper then diesel then you will come out ahead. most only activated it while under high boost (activated by a boost switch) so they wont see much gains in MPG. if the boost switch is set too low you will see better MPGs but you will run out of methanol fast

just to make things more clear, it is the water in the injection that lowers the EGT. you can get the methanol mix in different concentrations or mix your own. if the methanol % is high then the EGT will go up if it is low then the temp will go down.

I run a cooling mist kit on mine. Has a 200 psi pump, activated by a boost switch that is set to 15lbs of boost back up by a main power switch so I can cut the power to the pump when I don't want to use the system. I only really use mine when I'm towing or horsing around. But I've had it lower up to 250 degrees depend on what mix I use.

Im also currently running a Coolingmist system with a 10 gallon tank in the bed, and also only use it when towing my 9800 lb travel trailer. Mine is set to come on @ 12 lbs of boost. Its cheap insurance for a working diesel engine. You wont be sorry bro.
