96 cummins in a 99 ram wiring

You have to know how to read the part number, first. A brother with a Chrysler electronic parts catalog that fills an entire external hard drive doesn't hurt
I must have missed the part about the truck being a former gas truck. That harness won't work. Not now, not ever. I suggest you start searching for a proper one. Chrysler liked to pull this stunt where they'd change a pin or two between years on PCMs, so to avoid any issues, you ought to use only a '96 harness. Let me know if you need a part number.
Be prepared to bypass/splice/delete some things. That instrument cluster might not get along with the rest of the electronics (not 100% on that, I've never owned a Cummins newer than '96).

I'll get a part number in the morning. It has to be from a '96. '95s and '97s are different harnesses. If you can't find a harness for a 96, you can get a new pcm and harness, but they'll have to be from the same year, both for auto transmissions and both for diesels. '94-'95 pcms are in a black, plastic box while '96-'98 pcms are in a silver, metal box.

Thank you very much man. I have started looking for a 96' harness with no luck....they just arent in scrapyards around me.

Went to dealer number 3, one harness I have is from a 00',01',02' Ram, the other is from a 99' Ram. The PCM he could not come up with anything on it....had a quick thought after searching through MANY useless posts. Am i correct in saying that the harness, PCM, and cluster all must be from the same year? Because the cluster is a 98+ diesel, (digital odo) the harness is from 2000 2001, 2002, and the PCM is from what I understand a 96'?
I just dont get why I would have the CEL, brake, ABS, WTS and ODO...but no tach, speedo, temp, oil pressure?? He says it would be 2-4 weeks on the service manuals for both trucks....

Are there wiring diagrams, connector locations, and pictures of connectors in any of the service manuals? I have a manual for my 1/2 ton chev as well but it doesn't show much as far as wiring is concerned.
