Default 12v with 300k new tranny

Hey guys. I'm looking at a 97 ram 2500 ex cab long with the 12v. It's got 300k miles on it and a newly rebuilt transmission. Also has a automatic. Didn't look at the motor but has a set of gauges and 5" straight pipe. I'm lookin to trade my 95 f350 rclb with a 460. Just turned over 117k. I hate the fuel mileage. Can I get some opinions from some people?! If so that'd be great!!

Opinions on what exactly?

If you should do it? The Cummins you're looking at is a great truck, 300k isn't much if it was taken care of. Rebuilt ANYTHING sounds good, but it comes down to who rebuilt it and with what parts. At least take it for a test drive, and give us further details about how it drives.

Long story short .... that Dodge Either way will run circles around the ford all day .... I own a F250 my self and there's a world of difference in milage vs usable power .... and yeah my 12V kills the Ford each test ..... except cumfy ride , i think my f250 has the ram beat there...

the auto is a good trans ... you might wannt think about what your willing to put into the transmission... when the dodge's start makin power the Torque converter is the weakest link as far as I have been told ... and my experience is ... well I just had to replace mine also .... next would be a set of Arp Studs .... start pushing power through the cummins and you will pop a HG ... ask me how I found this out .... have a leakey one of those too ... so before you get to heart felt about the dodge ... just rember its an investment either way ..... get more than one oppinion and ask questions ... cause and effect .....

I would buy the dodge my self ..... now partial to oppinoins

Um yeah studs then start doing trans work ....... basically fix what we already know is gonna fail before it actually does fail ...... preventative is better than OH SH@#..... NOW WHAT?
