With my glow shift transmission temp gauge I'm getting like 102 on the highway and about 120 while in gear idling at a stoplight. This can't be normal or is it? Should I ditch the transmission test port extender? Thanks
Yes ferenheit and the highest I've seen my gauge go so far is 125, could it really be this low because I have a deep dish tranny pan? Or would this transmission test port extender really be not giving me a good reading ?
you want trans temp to be around 50* degrees cooler than engine temp. This applies on an average warm day not towing. Winter time and very hot days in summer the temp will vary from that. 150* is usually about the norm for regular driving.
Mine is usually 130-140, regular driving on a temperate day. Idling in the summer it shoots up significantly, as it does towing up hills, unless I'm on the highway then it's pretty much 150 tops.
