BWAHAHAHAH! I WIN! PROBLEM SOLVED! (also I spent a lot of time and money and effort for a stupid stupid oversight)




Soooo I figured out what it all is. Thank god its not a warped head. You know what fixed it? A pair of Vice Grips.


So you may or may not know... I won the October Truck of the Month. $200 of gift certificates. With one of them I bought a TorkTek OFV... fully adjustable, new INdestructrable design... Its only 2 months old. So this whole time I figured its not a problem. Overlooked it every time. Replaced fuel pump twice. Retimed my pump(thought it had slipped). Replaced head gasket. Flushed coolant who knows how many times (3?)


Haha. So that review that I wrote on the TorkTek with GREAT commendations, might have to be edited. Mine probably didn't even last 2,000 miles.

Pulls hard as hell now, blows way too much smoke, and holds 30 psi of boost.


Time for my Jaloponik/Hoonigan photoshoot! I'm so happy. hahah


So in review. Because of this bad OFV... I did the following in one week

Timed pump to 19* (from 12.5*)
Built a custom lift pump from a Carter body. 3 Valve internals.
special order 190,000 psi tensile strength SocketHead bolts.
Head Gasket
Mack 2095 plug.
Upped the boost from 15 to 30psi.
Fully ported intake manifold plate and elbow
Ported the head (so 30 psi is probably comparable to 40psi on stock head)
150lbs Industrial Injection valve springs
Back Cut all the valves

I think I just turned this from a 16.8 second car to a 13 second.
Time to pull out my shims and replace with 4k GSK

But why was the coolant low and brown? I thought that was the primary concern

As far as I can tell.... Though I did flush my coolant with the thermostat out... I did it with the engine cold. I'm sure there was lots of sludge and whatnot from 170,000miles on the motor just accumulated at the bottom. Once heated up it let loose and discolors the new coolant.

As far as it being low. When I filled it up, the engine was running.... though not warm. Chances are the thermostat was closed, and I just trapped a large air bubble in the head. In the morning when I checked I'm sure that air bubble had cycled out. I refilled it once, and level has been fine since. Also, my radiator cap was rather old (40 years old). I purchased a new 18 psi saftey cap and everything has been fine.
