Default ram body swap

I searched for this already but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. So anyway, about 2 months ago I got t-boned in my 97 ram. Me and my dad, who has been a mechanic for 40ish years, are trying to bring it back to life. He says we have to put a new frame because his buddy who has a 21ton frame machine can't budge it. I was looking around a local scrap yard and saw a ram 1500 that was about an 04 that's in pretty good shape. I was just wondering if that newer body and bed would bolt onto a 4x4 97 ram 25-3500 frame. We are also converting it to 4x4 now that we have the chance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There has to be an error somewhere in the communication. Just in case though:

At the beginnong, i was believing that he wanted to change the frame for the 1500 frame, but it seems that he wants to put a younger body on a torn frame...
I dont understand whi he do this. He will continue to have a crap but with a younger body!!!

I'd say that there's some good things to be said for that, but then I wouldn't be sure we were talking about trucks anymore.

Much. Doesn't sound so much like bringing this one back to life as harvesting it's organs for a Frankentruck. Regardless, I don't know if it will work or not (the bed should as long as it's the same configuration, not sure about the cab) but it'll be a helluva project and I look forward to following along.
