Ya that is a good check with the oil cap. I will deff use that. and for sure the front ends are something too look for. And this truck is for $5200 not $6000 my mistake.

I just fond an other truck today that is three hours away. It looks really clean. it is a 96 12 valve ex cab 5 speed cummins. it is a 3500 duelly so it has the 8ft bed. If i got it in time I would convert it into a SRW. he wants $5500 for it and it has 236k on it. It has some small mods, exhaust, intake fuel plate. but no phone number so I emailed and asked about it. I hope I get a response.

I would ask if you will make it home safe in it . But really make sure it drives straight and has no death wobble. And how bad does it leak oil are fluid and cold ac and heater. Also with blowby it will puff out a little just take the oil cap off, flip it over and put it on the oil fill hole. if it blows off you have blow-by, if it doesnt then chances are you do not. you got a link to the truck for pics are anything.

tireman9669, I am very concerned with the rust. and quad cab and ex cab are the same thing. the only thing that does not make it a holy grail truck is because it has a 8ft bed which I like personally. He said the first 10 years the truck was in Virginia. the rust looks mainly on the door bottoms. bed looks clean and fenders look clean it is either dirt or rust in the bottom corner of them

Thats the plan once I get down there abd check it out further!
The quad cab has rear doors and the extended cab dosn't so I wouldn't say they're the same. The 98 was the first year of the Quad cab and the last year of the 12 valve, those 2 things along with a 5 speed make it the holy grail in my book no matter wich bed it has, but personally I prefer the 8'. My truck works.

O well this truck has the 4 doors but the two back ones are broken. So i guess it is the holy grail but needs some TLC. I like 8 foots better too. he wants 5200. it has 240k rust on the doors, and the doors do not work. you think it is worth that?

dont forget the 215hp IP the power band on the 97 and 98 is much better in my opinion
IMHO the true holy grail would hve to be 98 4x4 qaud cab dually 5speed and fully loaded slt or sport I'm pretty sure that is the rarest cummins out there next would probly be the long bed srw I know my dad wishes he had a long bed since he wants to put 110 gallons in the back I think hes just gona get the 75 gallon transfer flow

I'm sure the back doors can be fixed and the fronts can be changed so thats not a big deal. If it's in halfway decent mechanical shape the price isn't too bad, but I always try to buy for less than advertised.

the manuals have the same pump for the 12valves, 215hp. autos varry from different years. 160hp in 94 and 95 and 180hp from 95 to 98 i believe.

I will defiantly dicker on the price. He is asking 5200 but with the rust, mileage and the doors I am going to take that into consideration on the price for sure. and the truck is fully loaded power everything. 3 main problems are RUST, MILEAGE, AND DOORS.
