Desperate times call for desperate measures... Today was a trouble-free day with the truck, so I spent the day replacing CV joints in an old corolla for a friend, that was a clusterfuck, but I got it done and it drives a whole lot better now.

I am Macgyver 2.0

I will check mine when I get home. I purchased mine through PTC Power, a vendor on here...

well, I got my timing bumped, don't know how far.. far enough it revved happily and didn't sputter... I figure about 16*... drastically changed EGT's... my truck and trailer together weighed in at over 7 ton and I was able to pull hard up a hill keeping the egt's at 1000F, if I really put my foot into it it would go up to 1250. It also completely changed the smell of the exhaust. That wasn't the end of my problems though... As I was downshifting into 4th for engine braking coming into a long downhill, I couldn't get into any gear at all... I was swearing up a storm, and when calmed down, and before I called a tow, I yanked upward really hard on the stick, put it in 5th, and let it down again, put it back into neutral, and voila!, I was back on my way again. about 100 miles later, my throttle stuck again.. this time the return springs had worn out,... a couple zip ties later, I got it fixed and made it home.

Whew

I like the extra timing in the truck... I'll be able to compare mileage soon.. though winter is never a good time to do it... I spend too much time warming up and feeding cattle to get any good mileage... it does seem to warm up a little better though

I looked on my Cummins gasket and did not see any "Made in any country" marks.

Well I know if it was made in China, they would proudly stamp "Made In CHINA" on the product. Same with Tiwan and other foreign countries associated with the ROC. So I will assume it was made in the USA. I will have to contact PTC Power to know exactly. Even the package just says genuine Cummins and nothing more....
