Default Hx40 turbo?

Where can I get an hx40 turbo from the 24v's? I want the stock turbo not one of those aftermarket off brands. Would it make a big difference if I replace my hx35 with an hx40 with mpgs? Eventually I'm going to install 75hp injectors too.

24v trucks came with the hx35, except the later automatics which had an hy35 or something like that

They're on the 3rd gen 24v's. my bad. but im debating on spending my money on either an hx40. do you think it would be worth it to spend the few hundred extra bucks to get an industrial injection turbo? im thinking maybe 62mm with 75hp injectors.

just build a custom compound setup... that's what i did

kidding aside... a HX40 will be fine with 4k GSK and #60 Valvesprings

add some injectors and you will be satisfied... but if you have the $$$ needed... get a Industrial Injection 62

I'm a little new to this diesel game. But which turbo is the HX60 off of? and how much boost are you putting out? How do you like your 370 Marine Injectors? Does it smoke a lot like what a lot of people have been telling me the 370 Marines do? Because I don't necessarily want to smoke like a train everywhere I go.

At idle and low throttle they are fine...

When i floor it they will drown anything in smoke, the bowl in the pistons of the light duty application 6BTs are smaller than the heavy duty (marine) applications but i have still to tune my AFC better and i am convinced they can be worked so that they only haze a little at wide open throttle, especially since i have a compound setup...

I only have a 60psi boost gauge, but i have had it topped out.... i even blew up my intercooler with what i guess was ~65psi...

the HX60 i have came off a N11 Marine engine, and the HX40 came off a 6CT...

the HX40 is a wastegated turbo that opens the wastegate @ 30psi...

the HX60 is a non-wastegated one, i have still to put a boost gauge in my exhaust manifold so that i can see if back/drive pressures are going crazy, but so far i've not had any water missing from my radiator so i guess my head-gasket and head-bolts are holding up.... yet... knock on wood... 7-9-13 !!!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

we did a test with a friends boost gauge before i upped the fuel.... back then boost/exhaust pressure ratio was roughly 2,5:1 but i guess with more fuel these numbers are now biased...

I also want to point out that a HX40 comes on 8.3L 6CT applications and never came on any 5.9... the 3rd gen 5.9 come with HE351 if i recall correctly and later HE351VE/VGT...

VGT turbos are known to cause drive pressure problems as they are designed to build boost quickly...

What are your intentions for your truck, what are your HP goals, and TQ goals ?

Do you intend on using it as a daily truck, do you tow, do you take it to the strip, ever want to hook it up?

I might not be the best expert on this, but i know my game pretty well although i regularly post up on this forum for some help (hehehe) but that's what this forum is for, i'll give you a recipe i think works for what you want... and some others might chime in aswell

I may just do an HX40 with 75hp or 90hp injectors with 4000gov springs, an S&B intake, a pusher elbow, and some special tuning. I'm not planning on going big at the moment, just enough to put some cars to shame
I may also change my gearing from 4.10 to 3.73 for better fuel mileage. I'm getting about 16-17mpg's with my 5spd. Unless I can boost up my mpg's with all those performance mods I listed.

I'm thinking I might just go up to about 400hp. Thats my comfort zone and I don't really want to go over 40-45psi on boost. I'd just like to take it to the track every now and then with some friends and probably do a couple pulls in work stock class.

Ok, so....

With the 4k GSK, you WILL NEED #60 Valvesprings...

BHAF intake, 4k GSK, #60 Valvesprings, SDX (or any brand) 5x.012 injectors, HX40W

I'm guessing your truck is a Manual Tranny truck since you talk about 5 gears....

First upgrade you spend money on should be a clutch, if you want good streetability get a South Bend SB-13125OFEK, if you don't mind a little rough engagement you get a SB-13125FEK...

they will warrant 550hp on that 13125-FEK and 1100tq... but i have a friend with 650hp on it and it has held up for over a year... with some rough driving...

but with a #0 plate... and good afc tuning... combined with the mods listed above... given that your truck has a 215pump... you should be @ 400whp even more..

Not sure if my lift pump was just bad.... or if they won't handle more power... but mine started puffing white smoke as soon as i was around 350whp... so an Raptor/FASS/AirDog pump is in order aswell...

Are the SDX Injectors the same as the DDP 90hp injectors? Are they as reliable? Because they are cheaper. How tough of a clutch is the SB-13125FEK? Would a Valair clutch be a good choice too? and do i need a fuel plate with these performance mods? Right now I don't have a fuel plate. I have the P-7100 pump. and im assuming the stock lift pump. i plan on upgrading with an airdog 150gph.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Should I consider getting an S&B intake or is the BHAF just as good?

Well, you could run it plateless but the plate is a safety object so you won't overfuel all the time and cook your engine with EGTs...

With a good set of injectors and a good plate you will be safe and make plenty power...

An Air Dog is a good and reliable pump...

PM to Kenny @ KT, Brice @ BBD or Luke @ DieselDawgs, there are others to choose from but these are the ones i've had good experience with..

I dont have personal experience with either S&B nor the BHAF but i've read multiple good experiences with a BHAF and when compared it seems you get a better run for your money in the BHAF...

Here's an object you might want to throw on it, this is what i intend on doing..
