i have a 98 extended cab long bed with a cm ss flatebed. i have a 28 foot gooseneck i tow all day. no problems with the bed or fram in any way. flat beds r the shit. it makes everything ten times easier. i will never have another diesel with the regular bed again.an u can do stuff like fit a cut up bwm on ur bed when ur not pulling a goose neck

If you mount it right you don't have to have a seperate plate for the gooseneck . When I mounted mine on my second gen I bolted to the body mounts and also bolted to the frame in 6 places with grade8 3/4" bolts. The ball is bolted and welded to a piece of 1/2" plate in the gooseneck box which is also welded to the bed.

Some may call it overkill but overkill is often a underappreciated achievement in my book

My dad has always taught me to overbuild pretty much everything. When he was running a farm, he bought a 8 footer toolbody that was still on the frame of a pickup that was made into a bumperpull trailer. He liked it but it bounced alot because it had so many tools in such a short wheelbase. When he was driving through town one day, he saw a 23 footer gooseneck flatbed frame that was homemade for around 700 bucks. He came home and brought me with him the next day to hook her up. He he basically said screw it, lets put less than 10k on a 23 foot gooseneck. Needless to say it pulled like a dream.

the more mounts you have the better of you are
