Default CUMMINS 400 HP INPUT SHAFT

I have a coule questions relating to horse power and the stock imput shaft on the second gen cummins. I want my truck to have about 400 horse when all said and done. As far as getting wont be hard. fuel plate, star wheel, timing (advanced or retarded unsure yet?) injectors, boost nozzle and some other little things. But I know I will for sure up grade the clutch but I am not sure if I should upgrade the imput shaft as well? I heard that some stock imputs can break on a stock truck and sometimes they stay with a 600 horse truck. any thing will help Thanks!!

I'm not sure that retarded timing is ever a good idea on a diesel.

I would run the stock input shaft until it breaks... then do a full rebuild

stock clutch too? I think the clutch will slip. Even if I just did the clutch and not the shaft and the shaft breaks I would have to get a new clutch again. its hard to say

for 400hp, i would get a SB-13125OFEK clutch and upgrade the input shaft to a 1.25"...

The 1.25" shaft can hold 600hp as long as the torque doesn't exceed 1100ft.lbs

Post in this section...

Price Quote - Request A Price - Diesel Bombers

Just copy what i posted above and you will get a price quote shortly...

I've at least always had luck with that...

You can also PM any of the vendors who are listed here:

Diesel Bombers Sponsors - Diesel Bombers

The ones that i've had buisness with and have all proven very reliable are

BBD Performance, Diesel Dawgs Performance, and KT Performance..

All the other ones are without a doubt good vendors aswell, but these three deserve credit for excellent customer service...

This site is entirely useful and i'm thinking i will definately upgrade my DB account soon to a paid one...

The SB13125-OFEK is a very streetable 550hp clutch with an 1100lb.ft torque specification, it will definately hold up to your needs without ruining your towing/driving experience...

The engagement is smooth and you don't need a hydraulic upgrade...
