hard to say its very easy to get to so just keep moving it back until you start noticing the smoke starting to clear up you want just a light haze under 20psi of boost

to roll it back you will be rolling it toward the fender. before making any suggestions we really need to figure out what you have going on right now. but yes studs are a great idea.

You are not messing with the smoke screw, you are messing with the starwheel, but there's also a possibility someone has been messing with that AFC bad...

If you do go with the 4K gov springs, you're going to want 60# valve springs too.
Wouldn't really solve your low end issue much, but you'll certainly get a lot more out of your power band. I suggest getting whatever your current air/fuel issue is sorted out before adding any more power though, obviously.

ok so I tore my AFC apart today someone was already in there of course this. Is what I found . Starwheel was full foward I backed it up a bit smoke screw was full foward I backed it out quite a bit . They didn't do anything with the washer or AFC ffoot I was going to but couldn't find the proper washer so I left that be. Now the fuel plate they already grinded it down to a #0 but its not just straight and flat the put a good size curve backwards tward the bottom is that ok? Ohhhh annnddd there was NO boost line ging to the AFC. So I went and baught fittings and a line and put the boost line back on. The fuel plate I slid it almost all the foward and I have the AFC slid all the way foward I can deff tell a difference in how she runs 1st gear I pull a little over 12psi 2nd a little over 20psi and then I can hold a good 35 out of it and she didn't smoke alot. I'm happier but not fully satisfied with the low end . Anything I can do or w.e else to gain much better out of it ? Anything I did putting it together fix anything they done with the plate any suggestions?

hows the smoke as it comes up to boost now? when you say the curve on the plate is going backwards do you mean toward the firewall? with that plate you will need to mod the afc foot to get the full rack travel out of it. also you will have to turn the forward throttle stop in some to get all of the rack travel esp if you do the 4k springs.

What's the thottale stop ? And no its curved in tward the front of the truck . I took a pic but I can't figure out how to post a pic but ya they took alot more off the plate than just a 0# they took it farther . I'll be getting the 4k soon and ill get the 60lbs valve springs . Can I install those myself? And what circumstances do I need to do head studs ? I dont wanna tear it down that far but will if I have to.

I just drove her on the highway and she runs very nice and Smith now before she was crying at about 2000 rpm wanting me to shift now she runs nice n smooth all the way thru 2g . I'll behonest I now know the basics of this AFC but I dont fully understand how it all works and I have done alot a research on just still a little confused is there a desired spot for the starwheel or smoke screw ? Was there anything that is supposed to ride on the fuel plate down there BC when I took it out I really didn't see anything ? I'm just thinking that there's other adjustments I can make with those screw or w.e to be a little better I do plan on getting a 100# plate or should I keep the one I have ? And imma get the gov springs. Any other suggestions . Oh and I do have a question with out the boost line on the AFC what affect did that have on my truck?

As far as the starwheel and smokescrew go, each truck is different. You'll just have to tinker with it to find the sweet spot for your particular rig. As far as the AFC effects, no boost going to the AFC prevents the fuel rack from traveling farther forward, limiting fuel and therefore limiting boost (relatively).
