Our mechanic says you can split your turbo shaft blocking the waste gate. but im not sure. silencer ring removed? polishing the turbo housing and what not has proven to build more boost. not sure though.

Overall blocking your wastegate is a bad idea. A boost elbow is a much better way to increase your boost. All it does is partially block the signal going to the wastegate so it stays closed for longer, allowing more boost to build. It works for both manuals and autos.

Yea i had no intentions of blocking wastegate that seems crazy to me and yes silencer ring is mia thats the 1st thing i did to this truck. Any suggestions on what would be a safe boost pressure without studs and strong stock tranny with shift kit at least until i manage to get my hands on a bd torque converter and valve body

35 psi all day long. drive pressure with the stock turbo is the better culprite for a popped HG not manifold pressure.

install those 4k's and beat on it a bit see how long ye old gasket hangs in there. 50psi cold side could easily be 90psi or higher on the hot side

Keeping your silencer ring allows boost to build faster, and to a higher number ...

Taking it out isn't doing you any good except making you feel good with a whistle.

I did not know that about the silencer ring i sure like that whistle but not if its hindering performance. And the more boost i have the lower my egts should be correct? Max i can get right now is 1190 so no worries there boost elbow and 35 psi will allow for more fuel

sure... Why do you think the turbo whistles when its out? Air is ripping past that 90* occlusion. the "Silencer ring" is really just a cheap *** velocity stack, making the air more of a laminar flow. You have to remember your compressing 4" of non accelerated air, down into a 56mm space... If someone were fairly enterprising, they would lathe up a nice round one to replace it....

i don't believe it i can suck air through a garden hose faster then a straw. take the ring out = more area for the air to be pulled through? maybe im wrong. just an opinion
