Needing something close to asap... is building a super 40/35 hybrid my best bet? Starting to need this fast. Turbo was grinding to a halt on power off today. Lol. Is the 3 inch down pipe really my limiting factor to a great turbo?

With a 4 inch downpipe it unlocks many options for turbos on these cummins. I would go that route

Here is my real problem though.... What you all may be forgetting is that I'm very close to the ground unlike you guys. And despite actually having quite a large frame, it is recessed into the body (no not a subframe). So that leaves my exhaust running actually below the body and frame line of the car. The original exhaust was something silly like 1.5" so it was not an issue. As it is, I can barely fit the smallest striaght through ovaled body exhaust I can find. 3.3" deep and 14" long. Cant be any longer than that even.... as It has to fit exactly under the seat, between the front and rear footwells.

And this is because I dont have room to wrap a 3" exhaust over the axle. So I have to dump it before the axle, and after the door so it doesnt make too much noise in the cab.

Lastly, I really dont have room in the engine bay for any larger of a downpipe as I'm already hitting my AC evaporator box.....

So that being said.... I'm pretty much stuck with a 3" exhaust.....

My eyes are burning from the burnt oil in the air from the ride home. LoL. I think I have to park it for the week....

Well if that's the case you can always buy the hx40 or marmon flange in a 4" and reduce it back down to 3". Its not ideal but where you aren't towing or hauling heavy loads shouldn't be a huge issue.

right... but unless the smaller exhaust housing is enough to increase drive pressure it will bark twice as bad as stock and bend the shaft....

Yeah, they aren't the best turbos out there, but a good alternative to a fairly stock engine

can you make a custom down pipe that reduces from a 4in at the turbo to say 2 2.5 in tubes and run duals out the back of your car? im sure a muffler shop could fit dual under your car, you would just have to fab the downpipe, give you the ability to get avay from the AC stuff and run a larger turbo.
