Default 1994 Fuel Sending Module

1994 Ram 2500 12 valve- My fuel gauge quit working so I removed bed and pulled the old module out of tank to check out. Upon removing the module, I found the canister had broken away from the upper portion and was just sitting in tank. I bought a new OEM module yestrday and my question is this- Do I need to adjust the new module before installing? There are screws with enough clearance to let the module slide up and down. It also seems to be spring loaded, which may indicate the need to slide up or down????:

From what i've gathered...the can is supposed to be able to slide up and down.

Thanks- I went ahead and installed it without tightening the slide mechanism and everything is working perfect.
