Main difference between the 95-96 12v?
Currently own a 24v and like it but got it set how I like it and want another cummins to get a little wild with. The main difference between the 95 and 96 is just less power due to injection pump? Found a '95 wanting to pick up for a streetable 500hp/1000tq build. Will the smaller p-pump keep me from reaching that goal or not an issue? Or any other "major" detering factors from the '95 for my build?
Thanks all,

To reach that kind of horse power I believe you wont be using the stock pump, but yes the engine is practically the same from 89-98 the only differences have been front gears, IP, LP, and injectors.. Why not do it to your 24 Valve they are great trucks, if not better than the 12 Valve in my oppinion...

So, the smaller injection pump won't hold me back? Going to go look at it this weekend. Just trying to decide if I need to hold off for a newer 12v. Sounds like it should be okay?

I guess my question better suited would be... What is the hp limits of the smaller injection pump offered in '95?

AT transmissions changed, IP hp went up. cam profile is different, you can still make plenty of power with a 160/175 pump. well over 500hp. turbos went from wh1c's to hx35's, grid heaters moved around between the years, factory injectors are a bit smaller by like .0005

i dont know exact dyno #'s but i have talked to several guys that claimed mid 600's with a 160 pump. im high 4's low 5's in my 95. the 180 pumps have a better cam profile for making power higher in the rpms where as the 160's peter out. if you have a good deal on this truck and are just looking for 500 ponies than you will be just fine. and if you decide you want more down the road buy a 180 pump and slap in on your truck. if its an auto i like the 94-95's they dont have an electronicall controlled tranny wheras the 47RE in the 96-98's do. the 5speeds are all the same nv4500

the 94 and 95's have a stronger bottom end due to 14mm main bolts, the down side is there is no secondary oil drain if you plan on doing a set of twins. As for the "small" injection pump question ... over 700+ rwhp has been made on these 160/175 pumps. unless your trying to turn some rpm I personally would not get rid of that 160 pump you have.
This was from a few years back but single 65mm charger made 550 to the wheels oem 175 pump 94 truck.
