Default Building a cummins and have lots of questions

I have a 96 cummins motor that I wanna build I would like to send it out and get it bored out and have crank turned. Also put a cam in it and obisly do the head. So one of my questions is will my 96 motor bolt up to my 94 cummins tranny? Also what cam should I go with because I still wanna drive it on the steer and pull with it. And also what should I do with injector pump? Also what injectors to get? Some feed back would be great thanks!

Ya it will, as long as you have the right bell housing...

You need to decide on how much hp you want first.

Ok. So I could just take that off my 94 motor then? What do u think about motor should I go that far with it or should I just stud the bottom end and redo the top?

Why do you want to turn the crank?

Well I talked to a motor man and he said I should turn the rank because the oil could have be come abrasive over the years? And I have no idea how that could be

have the crank looked at, do not turn it if it does not have to be, what ever mechanic told you that, well he should not be giving advise.

why do you want to bore out the block, this is not a gas engine, if the bores are fine, just deglaze them and move on.

don't waist money, do things like, dynamic balance the crank with pistons, get a new cam, one good turbo or compounds.

in my opinion, do not port or polish the head, I have had and still have issues with enough air on low side, I had to put compounds on just so that I don't smoke out the sun, put a good set of marine pistons in, lower the compression by the piston, not the head, you can look into head bolts, but I have really good luck with stock marine head bolts.

Ok thanks. Where do I purchase marine pistons? An the motor only have 195,000 miles on it so I'm sure the inside isn't that bad

for a street truck IMO I would keep the compression as high as I could. The stock bottom end on these motors are very tough and can take some power before they need to be upgraded.

What kind of rwhp are you looking for? you need to find this out before anything else
