2 stroke oil in 6.7 good or bad?

Default 2 stroke oil in 6.7 good or bad?

Just wondering if adding 2 stroke to the newer trucks is a good or bad idea.

Bad IMO since the dpf and egr system is not designed to burn it...

2-stroke oil is for 2-stroke gas engines, not diesels.

it dont matter what 2 stroke oil is for all it is is lube. but like red rattler said egr dpf not designed to run or burn it. i wouldnt recomend it i run it in my truck about a quart to a tank every once in a while. just to help lube things up a bit. but my truck is full deleted with no probs running it.

Actually it maters greatly. It was designed to be used in gasoline, a solvent. Diesel is an oil. It will not disperse or blend correctly in diesel.

i run it in my truck about a quart to a tank every once in a while. just to help lube things up a bit.
Why? Diesel provides all the lubrication your fuel system needs and it does nothing good for the engine.

^^^^^ uhhh... has all the lube it needs in it aye? ULSD means what to you? because to the rest of the diesel world, 100 PPM or less... is not enough lube in the system...

oh.... and.... here is the link to the thread that you can read regarding the STUDY'S that were done that PROVE 2 stroke oil in your diesel only helps....

Sulfur is a contaminant, not a lubricant. There is a big difference between the two. Why do you think sweet crude sells for so much higher than sour crude?

Where is the scientific data? You only liked to 11 pages of forum user opinions.

The fact remains, personal additives are a waste of money. The only time you should be putting anything other than clean diesel into your tank is if you are having problems with fungi or gelling. If a few oz of any of those additives actually did anything beneficial, fuel companies would be adding them to the fuel from the start and advertizing their inclusion. Such as Shell's "nitrogen-enriched gas" or Chevrons "Techron".

My 6.5 was designed about a decade before ULSD was released. I haven't used any additives from day one of ownership when I bought it new. Still on the original IP. If ULSD is so horrible, how is that possible?
And how is it that fleets around the world haven't been breaking down en masse over the last 6 years because they don't put an expensive bottle of snake oil in every vehicle's tank when they fill up?

Also, if you're so paranoid about lubrication, why aren't you adding ZDDP to your engine oil? ZDDP is a lubricant and its been almost entirely removed from every diesel oil on the market over the last 6 years to be compatible with DPF catalysts.

keep on reading there buddy. there is a link in that thread that will take you to the study list where the studies of additives were actually taken and tested on the rollers. out of all of the additives, 2 cycle oil was one that was PROVEN to HELP fuel lubricity, mileage, and lessen wear and tear on parts.

Funny how hard it is for you to provide a DIRECT LINK.

Thats like saying raising the water level of a pond 2 inches will help ducks swim better.
The 6.7 was designed to be used with ULSD. Adding something not designed to be used in diesel is pointless at best.

the point you make is valid assuming the trucks are left stock. yes with a EGR and DPF present, it probably wouldnt be a good idea to run some oil... but i can factually state that ive ran 2 smoker oil in my tank (07 6.7 with all deletes) for the past 4k and have ran better fuel mileage (on the calculator not the lie-o-meter). not saying that the 2 smoker oil made that change, but im positive it hurts nothing....
