So said i was going to do this post on the Kodiak MP install, so here goes nothing. the first attached picture shows the difference between the Kodiak MP vs the stock LLY MP. There is a VERY big difference. Next is a photo of the MP on my lap. hope you can see that i sanded down the inside, if not im sorry, but i did sand the inside of the mp alittle just to smooth off the rough edges. you dont have to if you dont want to, me im very picky so hey, its up to you.

I also took a drimal and rounded the edges of the PCV inlet (on the inside of the MP) because i re-routed my PCV so i pluged it, so the drimaling was so that the air entering the MP would flow freely past the PCV inlet port and not cause any turbulance. (once again im picky, you dont have to be if you dont want to be) That drimaling can be seen on the 3rd photo. Also, i drimaled the tabs off the MP because the stock MP doesnt have them and if you dont drimal them off (at least the tab at the 3 oclock postions faceing the turbo) it makes it more difficult to install.

Which brings me to the actual install. First remove the Intake tube and disconnect it from the Stock MP and move it out of the way. Then undo the clamp on the resinator box and unscrew the bolt holding the resinator box and pull the res box off the MP. Then disconnect the PCV from the PCV inlet port. Then loosen the MP clamp wide enough to remove the MP. In the 4th photo, you can see where my PCV re-route and the intake manifold intersect. Right at that point on the Intake Manifold there is a metal bracket that holds the huge wire bundle. That Bracket needs to be removed so the Kodiak MP can slide in place. Also there is a bracket on top of the turbo on the left side which will also need to be removed. Finally, there is a bracket on the right side of the MP/Turbo. It will also need to be removed so that the Kodiak MP will fit.

All of these brackets can easily be removed when the Stock MP is removed. Once the MP and the brackets are removed, take the MP clamp and place it on the turbo. Then push the large wire bundle forward (towards the front of the truck) and slide the Kodiak MP down and into position inside the clamp. Then position the MP so that it will meet and connect with the MP. Once positioned, tighten the MP clamp to secure the MP in place. From this point you can connect your PCV to the PCV inlet port and clamp it, or if you have already re-routed your PCV then you can plug/cap the port and clamp it. Then connect your intake tube to the MP. At this point you are finished........IF YOU WANT TO BE.

IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE....... Purchase a 4 inch by 4 inch rubber boot from home depot. remove the intake tube, and measure how much you will need to cut off to make the intake tube sit flush (similar to stock) it should be somewhere around 3 inches. Go ahead and cut the intake tube , clean it up and insure that there are no plastic flakes inside the tube. Then re-attach the intake tube at the airbox, and then take the rubber boot and connect the intake tube to the MP. This will give you a "flush" stock look, rather than a slightly kinked stock intake tube (which BTW doesnt really make a difference)

The final picture (yeah its a wee bit blurry) but its the final product.

so after all that didd you notice a diffrence in the truck

 

yes and no. you notice a bit more turbo whistle, but the real changes are at higher rpm's. not like its going to send you thru the back of ur seat, but it is a bit more torque and climb in boost. as for mpg, a one or so mpg raise. the other change is knowing that you are one step closer to a truck that isnt going to over heat as easily, and when more air is needed, more air is given, so your truck isnt choking like a hooker in a back ally.
