I have been trying to figure out if the new Icebox Intake for the 2001-2004 Duramax will fit on an 04.5 Duramax. The intake tube should be the same for the LLY and LB7. The box should bolt up because the 04.5 is the same body style is the same as the 04. From what i remember the Mass Airflow Sensor has the same mounting brackets on the LLY and LB7. These are all conclusions off the top of my head from when i installed the K&N FIPK on my 04.5 and my 02. Any input would be awesome.

 

I think the difference is in the length of the intake tube. You may find that one of them is shorter than the other.

 

Hey if someone could help me out i would appreciate it. If i run a 4" intake tube is it going to restrict air flow? I believe the flange on the motor is 4" OD but im not positive (someone help me out). My plan is to build a 4" OD intake tube from the motor to the Icebox. But if this will be to resrictive i will figure out a way to expand the pipe out to a 6" OD after the Icebox. I think a 4" pipe should flow enough air but will it flow more then the stock intake tube? These are just thoughts running through my head. I want better air flow!

 

Unless you are running EFI, there will be issues with the MAF sensor. Read up on the LBZ intake. I.E. changing the diameter of the intake tube increase or decreases the amount of flow over the MAF sensor.

 

It shouldnt effect the MAF. the MAF is mounted right after the filter on the Icebox.

 

aslong the area of the tube where the MAF sensor is is the same you should have any problems, but make sure to have it as far away from the turbo for less turbulance
