Default HELP! Would this be a good one for generator? going back tomorrow

First off, been messing with cars/machinery for decades and had an itch with diesels lately.
Found a '70 220d in the pull-it and everything was still there! Even the key (yesterday.
Today some ba____terd took it.. WTH..? why would someone take a key to a 40+yr old car? Should have hid it)

Anywho, i looked around on it and on the drivers side tag under about the 3rd injector was a tag and could only make out 240d stamped on it. OH, and it's a manual trans 4-5spd? Maybe someone swapped a larger motor in?
I had a '67 200d a while back but hurt my back and ended up scrapping it.

Don't know much about them but wanted to make a diesel generator or adapt into a postal jeep frame to pull my mowers. Most likely NOT going to make it on the street again for a long while.
But, i've got a few turbo's laying around (small ones) and was wondering if i should even attempt that. know how to weld too!
It's only showing 118k on her and in fairly decent shape (except for the forklift hole through the door)

So, got back there today to pull it all but the electricity was out and it was only cash.
pulled the oil cooler and all the bolts holding the engine in, then decided to get the tranny too.
Ran out of time and then tornado warnings came. Don't think someone else will get it tomorrow before I get there.

Even thought of putting it in a toyota or mitsu mini truck

Looking for info on it and if I should even mess with it.
What displacement is it?
still has the oil bath air cleaner!
How far can it rev?
Can they be made to run on a stand or outside of a vehicle?
Looks like a newer injector pump.
I'm trying to get as much of the electrical up to the firewall.
And if I have time, get as much from under the dash as well..(connected with the key that
is)

also know of a gent that's got a 4cyl diesel from a '84 Chevette and auto. (???)

Going back tomorrow. Just don't want to **** away 400.00 (engine/trans)

Thanks Errol

Default What did you do with your project engine?

Hey. I am new to the forum. Just noticed your thread and wondered what ever happened to yoir project engine. I noticed no one answered your questions.

Did you put it in a truck? I have always wanted a small diesel truck. I guess I will have to build one until I can afford a Colorado diesel. And the jury may still be out on whether those are any good.
