Hey fellow diesel nuts, enthusiast, whatever you want to call yourself! I'm Mason and I'm new tot he forums. I figured I'd start getting a list together of what I'll need and what to do, but first I need an engine and a vehicle. I'd like to get an engine before the vehicle because I plan on doing a 4cyl swap, preferably a Herc 3.7 or Mercedes 2.9. I'm open to suggestions as well but I do not want to go down the 4bt route, to expensive for what I want. I have a couple ideas for vehicles too, early 80's f150 or late 70's dodge half ton, preferably short beds or even a jeep! Stations wagons would be fun too. I stumbled upon a video of a '81 Malibooby wagon with the 3.7 herc and 4 speed which was pretty bad *** . I have access to a full shop but money is an issue , I want to build on a budget. I realize everyone says this business isn't cheap but if I keep the engine small and somewhat semi available I should be okay. If anyone knows of some cheaper 4 banger oil burners please let me know and I won't run a vw in a boat like the one's I have in mine, I don't want a speed demon but something that will at least be able to get out of it's own way, .
