I found a 1997 red f-superduty It has a 118,000 miles no rust and has a flat bed. He said if I come and buy it I can have it for 3000. He said he has used either once or twice but he let the glow plugs completely cycle which means he let the key stay for 120 seconds then starts it. I don't know it's worth it to buy it and worry about internal damage or glow plugs coming out.

 

That is a steal for 3000. If there is a shop near you that specializes in diesels, i would have them go over that truck completely. and check for a repair history.

 

Even with the either I'm just afraid the glow plugs are gana be stuck or something being that it is still winter.

 

Wonder if its the Glow Plugs at all.. Common for the solenoid to go bad. If the truck really only has 118K then glow plugs would seem odd to go bad. On teh left side of the motor top just under the small cover is a solenoid. You cannot miss it. Has a few larger wires coming into it. Cheap to replace. I had it go out at 220K miles and also thought I had a glow plug issue. Might want to look at this first. BTW: I have a 1996 7.3 with 240K now and I will own it until diesel is outlawed. Great truck!!
