1994 International with Detroit DT466 Engine Stopped
I was warming up the engine and after about 5 minutes, it started running rough and vibrating then shut down gradually (not hard stop). It was making a hissing noise from what looks like the hydrolic fluid pump on the left side of the engine. It never made any hissing noise before so I don't know what happened. Thought of a head gasket or something else at first until i heard this. Engine has never given me any problems until this. It does need fluids and oil change but right now those fluids and filters are sitting at about 9,000 miles on them.... Any suggestions on what to look for?
Also, I would like to get a service manual for this engine. I have some stuff but not what I need to diagnose it handily.

If I can remember correctly, the fuel regulator has a ball that is activated by vacuum and sometimes the ball gets stuck, after the vacuum bleeds off it should start back up.
check the oil level, you oil level may be to low
these engines have had many problems with the electronics, the reason it shut down like you explained, the computer shut it down. it also could be the high pressure oil sensor, or maybe another sensor.
for a service a manule, I would just find one online, if you buy from international, it could be about 200.00 or more.
good luck.

hey i appreciate that. oil level is fine. it was reading 50-60psi when it stopped. (just happend to check gauges). the fuel level was low and i had just added 5 gals. of fuel to make sure i can start the engine at least once a week. perhaps the fuel had some contaminates in it. i guess i should start simple. the ball you refer to may be stuck still from the fuel. but i should pull the fuel filters and see if they are past servicing.
also, it will start again and run for a few seconds before stopping again. when i manually prime the thing before i start it i notice also that the primer never gets hard to push like it usually does when i prime it. any suggestions appreciated.
