Default 2005 f250 6.0 turbo stopped working

I was driving to work today and as soon as i got on the highway i hit the accelerator and my truck had no power. I noticed that my edge was reading 0 psi for the turbo boost and there was alot of black smoke from yhe exhaust. When i checked the diagnostics codes it said that my super turbo solynoid has failed. I had been recieving a code also for a number 5 balance issue and a glow plug going out. It started sputtering when under a load and when idleing. I put different fuel in it whick seemed to stop the sputter until today when my turbo stopped. Please tell me it is just a bad egr valve and clogged turbo. Also will it be safe to get me home 10 miles at 35 mph or should i tow it? Thanks.

You should be safe to limp it home very slow.

This could be as simple as the variable vane actuator or it could be toast. You need to dig in and see what the internals look like.

Default thanks

Im gonna check all of the hoses before I leave. It was very hot out yesterday and for it to just quit all of a sudden I hope one of the hoses just came loose. I do need to clean the egr valve as well. Thanks for responding.

My old 6.0 used to not call for any boost once and a while. It would always give a little, one or two pounds. But I could turn it off and back on and all would clear. You might get lucky.

Default got lucky

I opened the hood and the previous owner broke the clip for the sensor cable. It just shimmied loose. Put it back in and ran great. I still think im gonna clean everything this week though. I dont know how often he did. Could a balance issue in injector number five be caused by bad fuel. I put in some better fuel and havent had the code since. The diesel fuel here in montana is crap.
