So whats the difference spending 50K for a nice truck and 5K for a nice bike.. I ride mine 3 to 4K miles a year.. Nice bikes do make a difference.

Well, this is pretty interesting - Looks like SmokeEmOut911 isnt actually a diesel owner - his other handle is BikeFag (imagine that):

The Black Cloud Bikefag’s Blog

Just a tree hugger looking for more ammunition.

I especially like this:

"Meanwhile let’s pray that the pickup truck driving, “no big government” hillbillies who keep ******* diesel smoking me get a taste of their own ******* medicine; the US government does not bail out the Chrysler Corporation and General Motors; all of the Detroit Big Three fail; and the future generations of gigantic douchemobiles go to Hell where they belong, along with their Budweiser-drinking, meth-smoking, thimble-cocked owners!"

Id say we treated him pretty good - and thats the thanks we get.

So, what do you think about that?

I don't know why he'd come over here and do that.
I can't say I've got any respect for the guy as a cyclist or a diesel owner.
Personally, I'm a cyclist first and foremost, and a diesel owner second. Competitive cycling is my life. Even if I wasn't, I would never deliberately go out of my way to make clouds of smoke and wreak havoc upon the average joe who's just out for a run/ride/ or a drive.
You're right Doc, we did treat him well, but that's because most of the people on this site aren't those kind of idiots who disrespect other people like that. Most of us have enough sense not to want to smoke people out, and spandex clad guys on bikes or not, people are entitled to their own choices and I hope most people here can respect that. That's why DB kicks ***.

Default Well, you've "smoked me out"

Sorry, Diesel Bombers. I started a fake name to try to get someone to talk about why they diesel smoke cyclists. And clearly it didn't work.

You all seem pretty nice and upstanding. And, as a "bike ***" blogger who uses his character as a crash test dummy for the impulses of "bike hipsters," I am - well - not as nice.

As for my last paragraph, well it is fairly harsh (although I can't really see why the hell anyone who isn't using it for work should ever drive a huge-*** truck. I mean, remember how it uses a shitload of resources and gas and puts out harmful emissions? Why do that?). But I think that if you read other parts of this particular post, you'll notice that I conceded after this little failed experiment that it's unfair to accuse all diesel truck (and, by extension all non-diesel truck, and all SUV) owners.

I'm just angry about people using gigantic (and, from my perspective COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY TO EVEN EXIST) vehicles to demonstrate some sort of machissmo/pissing contest thing against me while I'm on a bike, obviously going slower, and much more susceptable to things like death. I mean, why not fling their own feces or something? At least that doesn't damage the ecology..

Anyway, sorry guys. I'm a total ******* and I tried to make you look like hillbillies. This is the other side of that "culture war" that I was talking about. Smarmy, trash-talking, 130-lb English Majors like me who assume that everyone who drives a truck is a drunken, wife-beating neanderthal.

Obviously real life is more complex than that. All of you proved my stereotypes wrong. I guess I'm gonna have to go back to satirizing the subject I know the best: bike **** just like me.

At least you can make fun of yourself!

As far as the resource/pollution thing the facts are that diesel trucks get better mileage and use less resources then there gasser counterparts. Alot of us are running bio-diesel either as a mix or 100%, Bio is made from corn and soy. Soem guys also run their truck on used cooking oil (hows that for helping teh environment) And our trucks, especially the newer ones, put out less emissions then gassers. Even the ones that smoke, the smoke is just ash from un burnt fuel. Just because we drive trucks does not mean we dont care dude. Anyway were do you live at? Maybe a member will slide by and take you for a ride in a hot rodded diesel and you will see why we are addicted! If your close by to me I'll take you out for a beer and a quick ride in a hot rod!

oh and I dont beet my wife... She does knock teh **** out of me every so often though!

People from all walks of life drive these trucks. They use them to drive their kids to soccer, to pick up groceries, to tow their trailer to the lake, to commute and yes, there are many that, also use them for work. Not everyone that drives these trucks is a red neck. For your information, diesels get better mileage, have lower harmful emissions, are more efficient, and last much longer than any gasoline engine.

That being said, whether you agree with it or not - we have EVERY RIGHT to drive these trucks and in the end, YOUR OPINION doesnt MATTER.
