| 6.7 Liter Dodge Cummins 07.5-UP Discussion of 6.7 Liter Dodge Cummins Diesels |
So this may be a newb question but it has me wondering, If you have a DPF/EGR/Cooler delete does it matter if you run the Ultra Low, Low or regular #2 diesel? I just figured Ultra Low was just to help keep the DPF alive, ... JOIN NOW TO REMOVE TRACER

So this may be a newb question but it has me wondering,
If you have a DPF/EGR/Cooler delete does it matter if you run the Ultra Low, Low or regular #2 diesel? I just figured Ultra Low was just to help keep the DPF alive, but not sure if there is any other composition that the new engine in general needs for operation that is in the Ultra Low diesel. Talking fuel, is there anything in the fuel department to help specific situations like there is in the gas world. Like in the gas world, super high octane, high lead, oxygenated, reid vapor pressure ect..ect. But I assume there is not detonation worry with diesels...but could be wrong. Are there higher centane ( I believe the term for rating diesel) or additives one would use if you were going to play around on the track with a hotter program, or maybe towing some crazy weight, or just beating the snot out of it in the mud?? I just know in the gas world a simple fuel can save a motor with a bad tune or a motor being worked way too hard. It is cheap insurance to me. Also, on the tunning side, do diesel engine generate an Air/Fuel ratio like a gas car, and are thier wide band style O2 sensors; like you use on a gas motor for tunning/monitoring, or is that replaced with an EGR in a diesel application. Thanks Mike |

to answer some of that...there are additives for just about everything. most folks use a lubricity additive although not much in the 6.7L if stock because of the tree hugger stuff. i know my uncle uses Lucas in his 5.9. there's always NOS but, that's not really any additive in the way you are asking.
thinking through this, the 6.7 has been around a while so with the deletes i'm assuming you could treat it the same as a 5.9 and add away. |
