A 64 will be much better. If its a 64/74 it will still be very lagy

give her some fuel. not sure how that setup is going to treat you, but I'd guess not well because you just aren't giving it the fuel it will need to light that turbo

01quadcab, what makes you say his will surge? the lack of fuel or is it just that specific turbo? the fact that it's t3? Just curious because I have no surge issues with mine.

OP,

I put a super B special and a set of 7x.010 with added lift on prior to my compounds. It was fun on the highway, but it got old between lights with hills. At the time I ran a smarty on level 4, edge juice with attitude on 4x1 and hand calculated 21 mpg's on the highway. Needless to say, I sold that setup and now have compounds. If your still looking at a larger turbo, have you looked at a 62/?/?/ I would think it would spool faster than a 64/71/14 would for sure. just my two cents....

Well thank you for all Your input! I finally found a good trade. Got a Holset HX40 Super Pro. Charger Had 12,000 miles on it. got it finally put on last night. The truck runs A LOT BETTER... Sounds Different too... Just jacking around last night I saw 43 PSI on the boost gauge and never seen anything above 1055 on the EGT. the Turbo spools ok. I am Very Pleased...

Just A Question Does Any one know the Specs on the HX40 Super. I guess I could have measured when I had it apart but I didnt..
