Default head stud????

I just puchased some arp head studs part# 247-4203
it says to mill the rocker arm pedistal...is this really needed or is that why you have to mill the valve covers on these trucks?
Thank you for any help

I just got off the phone with arp and they said you have to drill and tap the block on that row of studs and mill the pedistal or you can just mill out the valve covers

I was under the impression that the older sets of ARP head studs, you had to clearance the valve covers, but with the new sets, they made those ones shorter so they wouldn't hit the valve covers, but now you have to mill the pedestals.

doesnt it specifically say on the directions that you have to get them milled. i think this is one of those things where its better not to make a short cut.
