Default Suggestions on replacement tc's?

I have a 2005 dodge cummins, completely stock and the tc went out. It is still under warranty, and I wondered what would be a good replacement for it. I dont want to have the same problem later. Any suggestions? I have four kids so I am on a limited budget.

I am kinda leaning to a total tranny replacement. I just got a estimate from the repair shop and I am thinking I can buy a new one for about the same price. Any comments?

Buy a good converter from Luke , dave or suncoast and have a good LOCAL shop build the transmission. Don't fall for the bs that goerend or suncoast is the best. They build the same transmission any quality builder will offer but you'll have local service and repair, warranty is much cheaper and easier to take advantage of.

Don't get a stock rebuild either or you will be doing again.

Most builders use a updated kit these days, you can ask for extras but the kit most use is a good setup

Ok, thanks for the replies. I am getting a local tranny shop to do it. Damn, transmissions are expensive.

Don't let them install a stock torque converter.

i have this exact same problem on my 03 cummins, i only have an edge ez, cold air intake and boost elbow. through my research, the best deal i've found and that i'm purchasing is

Goerend or ATS triple lock converter- so it never has to be replaced again.
DTT shift kit-alot cheeper than a whole new valve body and my mechanic knows how to install it
BD Power Intermediate Build It Kit- comes with all new steels, friction materal, all that jazz.
Billet accumilator piston and servo from DTT- makes your trans quit leaking and saves line pressure
4.4 Apple lever from DTT- better shifts.
and finally the Noise Isolator from DTT- my year of truck has a problem with the alternator wire running beside the TC sensor so it causes it to lock and unlock. saves theTC.
hopefully this helps get you on the right track.. this all adds up to somewhere around $2250.
