mad Rear Door Harness problem....

Ive hade my 05 Derdge for a few months of so now and I do love it. But since day 1 the rear power door locks didnt work along with the right rear speaker. So today I finally got off my duff and poked around and this is what I found!

3 wires broken on the rear passenger door and 4 or 5 broken and or cracked on the rear driverside door.

Are there any recalls or TSB's for this? I tried to call the stealership but they were closed. Ill call again on Monday.

Welcome to owning a dodge. Did. Oth my rear doors on my mega cab after dome light and speaker problems. Also had to replace the master switch on my door for windows and locks. I removed both the rear harnesses and added about an inch of wire and soldered and heat shrunk everything. Huge pain in the a** but no more problems.

Yup...the notorious wiring in the rear doors. They made the wires too short for how far the rear doors open. Constant pita. I still have to rewire mine. Rear driver mega door has no power to the locks.

@ MTmega- Thanks for the advice on adding an inch of wire. Im going to re-wire mine soon. I was searching the internet for extra flexible wire but that stuff is spendy! I think ill just go down the same road you did.

@chemmins- Im just glad to know im not the only one. My truck was cheap because it was a repo'd farm truck. Turned out all the front end components and both drivelines were shot. Not to mention just about every fender is messed up. And the bed looks like it was raped by an elephant... or a gooseneck trailer.

Yeah, for sure you are not the only one. There are lil quirks to these trucks that are unique to them, but once they are fixed, they are decent trucks.

My list of common problems.

1. Ball joints/tie rods - Get rebuildables so you don't have to take it all apart.
2. Seats - Any seat is better than stocker cloth seats.
3. Unit bearings - Get a set of manual hubs.
4. Trac Bar - Get a Thuren
5. Fuel Filtration -Get the GDP 2 micron kit and big line. Manual gear drive pump as well.
6. Rear Door Wiring - Splice in an extra inch, using good speaker wire gives better flexibility.
7. Springs - Deavers for the rear, and soft rates for the front.
8. Shocks - Bilstein 5100's or the HD's.
9. 2 Piece Rear Driveshaft - Order the 1 piece mopar one.
10. No Heat in Winter/Poor AC in summer - Flush heater core, install valves to block heater core, check for broken recirc door, bleed air out of system, new cummins thermostat....190 degree one.

That about sums it all up.

That sucks. New-ish trucks shouldnt need that much stuff.

Speaking of weird electrical issues.... My vent selector only blows out of the top of the dash on every setting EXCEPT when its on recirculate. Then it sorta does what its told to do. Whats up with that!

Aaaaand, The wiper speed switch is odd too. Sometimes it wont work on the lower settings, then kicks on at the higher settings, then if you go to turn it down the wipers will stop dead in their tracks. The rest of the time they come on when you hit the switch. But thats not all folks. when its on the slower settings, sometimes it does what its supposed to, the rest of the time it will do 2 or 3 wipes really fast, then wait like its supposed to, then do 2 or 3 again and keep doing that.
