Default A few trans questions...

Alright, first of all thanks for taking time to look at this. I've been lurking this site for quite some time for answers to problems and fixes, but haven't ever really taken time to register because most of the answers were there for me. But finally, the occasion arose that I have to ask my own question.

Recently the trans in my faithful old family truck went out. It's a 1993 12V, D350 2X4 dually, five speed. It's a Getrag. Roughly 510K miles on it, have no real idea but it was a daily driver since it was bought new in 1993. My father bought it off the dealership in NC, and has never really had any outstanding issues with it. But the speedo broke in 2007 at ~300K miles and we've been driving it every day pullin' trailers and hauling mulch and gravel.

Anyway, the trans finally went out. Some bearings locked up and stuff, I don't know the full details but my father says he's just going to replace it. He wants to go from the Getrag to the New Process transmission, and it's a manual. He doesn't know if the transmissions will be an easy swap because he says he isn't sure if the NP will fit the same bolt pattern to the bell housing as the Getrag, he was also wanting to explore the options of a 6-speed but doesn't want to have to really modify anything on the backside of the engine to make it fit. He also was asking if one of our spare trans. lying around would fit, it's out of a 1993 D150 318 V8 gas truck. I doubt that it's built to handle the abuse though.

TL;DR?

What all models of manual trans. will fit a 1993 D350 Cummins 12V 2x4 Dually, without serious modifications to make them fit?

Again, thanks in advance. I really love this site, it's made working on both my 93 and my 96 so much easier.
