Getrag Clutch

Getrag Clutch
Well, I felt a little slippage driving home today, and I figgered that I'd rather be armed with ya'll's opinions before the clutch fails. My 91 I/C is pushing a little more HP than stock (3200, fuel screw turned in bit, timing bumped), but I really am not going much more than that. What can you guys recommend for a replacement clutch? I don't tow much, I can never see getting past 300 or so HP and 550 or so torque, so the idea of going crazy and dropping well over a grand on a clutch is a little hard for me to chew up. I do put my foot in it, I do like to merge with traffic, but I don't see myself doing any more power mods. So what do you guys like and what kind of money did you spend on the parts?

I don't remember the model number/nomenclature, but, the two mixed-year Dodges in my signature both have OFE 13" setups from South Bend. As both were initially auto-trans trucks, I needed flywheels both times, and I don't think either transaction was over $800. They're nice and smooth, and supposed to hold over 800lbft of torque. Check'em out. Lots of people also mention a company called Valair, but, I don't know jack about'em.

Here's a "D'OH!!" face-palm warning. As it turns out, my son was having some clutch trouble after about a year-n-a-half, so, Da Beast was back in the shop. Guess what? The clutch that was in there was not a South Bend, at all. The one I'd bought, AND HAD SHIPPED TO THE HOUSE, AND HAND-FRIGGIN' CARRIED TO THE DAMN SHOP that did the initial transplanting was not the one that was in the housing. Crooked foggers! Live and learn/let karma take care of the details. Since his is heavy-build/light duty, he opted for a stock Dodge/Cummins/NVG4500 clutch replacement, and it's just friggin' dandy. If you're doing your own install, then you know what's GETTING installed, but, if you're having a shop do the wrenching, watch'em like a hawk.
