Hard start, heavy smoke, and sputtering on cold start start
Im looking for opinions here
But first basic info, 98 2500 12v auto, currently has 90hp injectors, running 28psi max boost, air raid intake, dual 4" muffled turbo back exhaust, has approx. 150k on rebuilt motor
Symptoms: Hard starting, sputtering, enough smoke to fogout a street for half a city block or more. Batteries are starting to die but are kept topped up with an under hood trickle charger. Block heater and both grid heaters are functioning and the grids are in spec for resistance and draw rates. Which leads me to think either a leaky injector(s) or I'm getting air in my fuel system somewhere but have as of yet been able to find the leak. Once it has warmed up it runs like a champ, slow off the line but has major pull for any of the trailers it has had to pull so far this winter.
This is my first diesel, but I am mechanically inclined, I've searched for info on my problem and it all points to a leak. The reason I'm looking for others opinions is I'm still new to these 12V's and I'm wondering if there is anything I have overlooked in trying to find the problem.
