Question lift pump problem?

so I pin timed my truck and it starts and idles fine, but when I drive it it starts to sputter and blow a ton of white smoke, but if I keep trying to give it fuel it will catch up and drive normal. I'm not sure what the problem is...

Hi REO welcome to Diesel Bombers please give us more information on your truck.
We need to know what mods you have.
Any recent maintenance performed ect.
It is very difficult to be accurate without this info.

ok, so I have an afe cold air intake, shaved fuel plate, and 4 inch exhaust. I recently took off the ppump to replace the push rod cover gasket and when I put it all back together is when I had this problem. I also replaced the fuel filter because I thought that might help, but it didn't.

Ok thanks,

So after reading that, to my understanding, I can adjust my engine time just slightly to possibly fix the problem?

To my understanding that is correct I am in no way a 12V guru. I wish some of guys on this forum with 12V knowledge would step up and help out.
