Since this apparently became an informational thread... what are your thoughts on the bluechip special X? And can the vp really be rebuilt for $50?

Thanks bud!
Let's take a look at the injection pump, All pumps are built using virtually the same componets REGARDLESS of where it's bought. Bosch is the main supplier of componets for the pump, after all it is a bosch pump. A few years back FEDEX had a rash of VP44 failures and demanded a fix (easiest way i know to explain the process of what happend) The fix appeared to be new electronics and a few minor componet changes that prolonged the life of the pump. No one ever took the time to mention that almost all failures were related to low fuel supply and pressure. The VP-44 unlike the mechanical p7100 which was oil lubricated, the VP-44 relys on fuel to lubricate and cool the pump. As lift pumps failed, the pressure and flow available to the injection pump began to decrease, therefore creating heat and galling issues inside the pump , which in turn led to 1: mechanical failure or 2:electronic failure.......

Now with that said the Bluechip pumps are still a reman VP-44 with the assurance of the new electronics that were designed for fed ex....Now the danger zone....Many belive that Chip at Bluechip used the hype of the injection pump failures and new fedex parts to sell pumps...Is it true, I dont know. Thats between him and God. lol
Now , in reality any self respecting company that has any clue how to stay in buisness will include new electronics when the pumps rebuilt. ALL COMPONETS THAT WERE THOUGHT TO BE AVAILABLE ONLY ON FEDEX PUMPS ARE THE STANDARD REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE VP44 NOW!! Not yelling just want that point to be heard. Some companys probably do just bench the pump and if it works after the basics they send it down the road. But most good vendors can steer you away from it! We all get our pumps from 1 of maybe 5 rebuilders.
Some of the parts are available to rebuild the pump but in doing that you eliminate your ability to bench the pump and check all the electronics and fuel delivery system.

Somthing else thats worth a mention on the VP44 subject, I remember a while back that The guys over at coaltrain had some delivery valve setups for the pump that allowed it to flow more. I'm not sure on power gains or what ever happend with the idea but I can see how it would help the SO pumps.

Hope this helps!

That may be but this info is too good to be wasted in a Wanted To Buy Thread

We'll use this as a draft , let everyone get their opinions in, straighten it up as the General Diesel Bombers consensus and post it as a stick lol

Seriously, If I've quoted somthing wrong or termed it wrong someone bring it up, We're only as good as our worst peice of information!
