I run 35x12.50x17" pro comp XAT's on stock rims with stock suspension, and have no clearance problems, but my truck doesn't really see offroad much. I do have a slight rub at full lock on the control arms though, but that's because of the stock wheel's backspacing, and not the height of the tire.

I have been running 315/70/17's (34.5x12) BFG's on my last two trucks without any issues other than a little rub on the control arms. I started running them on stock suspension and now run a leveling kit. Just recently purchased 325/70/17 (35x13.12) Nitto's and they are about as tall as I think you can run without having any big rub issues.

i know he rubs on the control arms, but not positive about the fenders... |
if you run the stock wheels you can clear 37 stock. it has been done. there is an active post on another board with pics of it done...

I disagree about the tires and lift. Level kit should be more than enough to clear most 37" tire.
Here is a 05 CTD 4 door, long bed with 37" claws on stock steel wheels. They fit and only slightly rub the control arms at full lock, nothing that effects drivability at all. I would venture guess that about 3-5* of steering was lost. the only mod was the removal of the front after market flares. The truck was fitted with the after market bumper at purchase, so there might be interference with a factory bumper, but I can not attest to that. Now to add, I am not a fan of huge lifted trucks, it's just not my thing being into offroading and lots of lift pretty much equals flops and roll overs. I *tried* to run 37's on stock wheels and they rubbed all over the place. I had to install the Carli arms, then no issue, but I did go back to 35's, handled way better. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- You can disagree, but you are wrong LOL...( i mean this is a nice way) ANY level kit on the market right now, will not clear 37's. BESIDE the control arm rub, you will definitely rub the stock bumper (in a big way), but the bigger issue is TRAVEL...the rears will hit the bump stop so not too big an issue unless the impact is real severe, but the fronts will tear the front fenders off if you bottom out... there is a difference between 'fitting' and working....
