6.0l vs. 7.3l vs. 6.6l
ok i got a Powerstroke 6.0L and i just bought my SCT from innovative and im getting custom tunes and i also bought my 4" turbo back. My friend has a 7.3l and he has a DP tuner and the highest hp setting he has is 160hp race. My best friend has a 2004 6.6l duramax and he has a edge with attitude and a 4 in turbo back and banks ram air intake. my question is who do you think would win in a race?

it would also have alot to do with gearing and tire size and what not

We both have stock gearing...on the 6.0 and 6.6...and i believe the same size tire which is 285/75r/16

yes we both have stock gears and i do have 285/75/16 but my little secret is 4*4 launch:w2: and jake wont you be running a 420 rwhp tune and im only at mabey 400 and want efi live but wouldnt push any more than i already am seeing as i have stock tranny tell us what you guys think

Do you have upgraded tie rods on the Duro? If not I'd shy away from the "secret" 4x4 launch.... :pca1:

id beat him at top speed though cuz the custom tunes im getting make the governor go all the way up to like 115mph or higher right? im getting a SCT X3

115 aint much depends what the dmax has my buddys pegs the speedo

yea when i do get efi live im not running any more than a 75 hp tune though at least not for a while i would like to keep my tranny for a long time well threw college since i wont be able to have a job and what money i do make will go to diesel so im saving my money :argh:

Dmax all the way more low end torque it makes it's maximum torque at the same place a cummins does 1800RPM whereas the powerstroke is over 2000rpm, 6.0 is quick but i think the 6.6 will make more power quicker and therefore if you can keep the tires from spinning you should win

Saying that I must also say that the SCT with custom tunes adds quite a bit more power than the edge with attitude( not the best tuner for the Dmax). A real race would between those trucks with the SCT custom on the 6.0 and a PPE hot+ 2 on the Dmax. Put PPE tuner on the 04 Dmax would say it would be a toss up. PPE on a 06 or 07 Dmax and the the dmax probablly has an edge if the tranny will hold.

The 6.0 will still beat the 6.6. Even with EFI Live your still not going to be able to run a high setting without Limping your Allison Trans. I ran the Eric's Extreme Race Tune on my 6.0 and it would MOVE. It also removed the Govenor because id had mine to 120+ several times.

i think the dmax will trear a hole in that 6.0. a mild efi tune will still give him +400hp vs lets say the fords makes 350-390hp on race tune. 6.6 by a long shot

Race and see. I'll tell you now, load a big tune, and only race a 1/4 mile or something with that dmax. Lock out o/d and the trans should be fine. I run almost 500 rwhp through mine, and the stock trans is living, just don't let it nail that 5th gear shift wide open or it will limp. My trans is coming soon though, with some 550 rwhp+ tunes

im with 07redsled... ford should take the launch and the dmax start pullin soon after... and im not tryin to top you redsled but i got a buddy with a 06 dmax that we got to 143mph but then again he has quite a bit done to the truck but stock gearing, the speedo was pegged so we started watchin the gps

my brother has a 05 excursion mild tune and a 06dmax that has about the same things done. Not sure if it helps, but we raced each other in them and dmax lined me until about 45mph to 70mph i caught him and then he pulled off till we had to get out of it. I would say the dmax
