Ruger SR-9
Anyone shoot an SR-9? I'm looking at getting a 9mm just for some range time. I already have a springfield XD45, but I want something I can put a box of bullets though without my wife threatening casteration. I went to cabelas and felt up a many 9's as I could, and I probably liked the ruger SR-9 the best a far as feel. Good gun? Bad gun? It was $470 there, but my uncle sells guns out of his basement and I can get them cheaper through him. Or should I just get an XD9 so it is an easier transition to the 45?

Don't know anything about the SR9 except it feels funny to me..
Have you looked at S&W M&P 9mm pistols...they are excellent.... |
I think I'm going to go out to cabelas again later today to check them out again. I'll make sure to finger the m&p.

Well, I had to go with the Ruger. It just felt better to me. In the M&P's defence, cabela's only had compacts to look at here. The SR-9 should be here by thursday. $425 out the door from my uncle. I bought some FMJ's to practice with at cabela's when I was there. Let the anticipation build.

I've picked up a couple different rifles at the Cabela's in Mitchel...nice store :tu::tu::tu: |
I didn't understand it either. Only compacts.

Called my uncle today. None of his suppliers have any right now. He said it could be 2 days or 2 months. Oh, well. I started this looking for something for the wife three months ago. I can wait.

I waited for 4 months for my OD Green SR-9 but it was worth the wait. I replaced my P-89 with it. I have always been a Ruger fan.

Got it tonight!!! $425 out the door baby. The only bad part is I won't have a chance to shoot it until later Sunday.

I have a friend that just got a SR40. I like the SR's I think they feel good in the hand and are smaller in size the the P series Rugers I have.

well..... Choose your flavor...
Rock Island 1911 FS - $425 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/images/51431.jpg Glock Of Your Choice - Around $550 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/i...1/73/73209.jpg Springfield XD - Around $550 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/i...1/32/32424.jpg Smith & wesson M&P - Around $550 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/images/109106.jpg Plenty More but any of those above should give you a long life of service. I suggest finding a range that rents guns and try them out. Find what you like. For me personaly I like the feel and grip angle of the glock. I've shot teh rest and the M&P is probably my next favorite. I own the RIA 1911 and it's a nice gun too. People will say.... "that gun is junk" or "this gun is teh only one worth anything" when in reality they all make great firearms and it comes down to what works for YOU! :c: |

Well, I made it out tonight at around 5:00. I had 2 boxes of 50 and 1 box of 100 so I shot one clip (17) of each 50 round boxes through it and two clips from the 100. I've only shot probably 400 rounds before this through a large caliber semi-auto pistol, and only 50 of those were actually at paper targets with both eyes open. Well, here is how I turned out at 12 yards. I need to tune the rear sight slightly, but didn't have the time today.

The gun shoots pretty danged sweet for me. I actually like the feel a little better than my XD45. The Lellier & Bellot seemed to have a slight bit more recoil? I'll have to get her sighted in before I can really tell too much more on accuracy, because I think I would sometimes unconsciously compensate for the first couple that were low. |

My CCW instructor had PINK hair clips for anybody who used the term "clip" when referring to the magazine of their pistol. I didn't get to wear any (calling a magazine a clip is one of my pet peeves) but one dude finished the class with 5 of em! Wifey was a good girl, she left the class clip-free!

The Ruger SR-9 is a great little gun. Please do not take offense to this but if that is a standard pistol target you should be grouping way tighter trying for accuracy. Looks as if you are anticipating the shot slightly. Where are you at in SD, lets get out and shoot sometime.

Yep, still realize my mag error.
Arsenal, I'm in Mitchell. I've only shot a dozen other paper targets in my life and they have been in the last 3 months. I've always been a pick and shoot kind of guy before. Finally realized that wasn't good enough with a pistol. |
Im in Rapid City...that may have to be a weekend trip and ill hit sioux falls while im out that way. gotta save some greenbacks before i head that far east on a military paycheck. but youre closer than alota people i shoot with back home.
Looks like time to cold practice trigger pull without moving the sights to me. Maybe we can get up and shoot one weekend this winter :rocking: |

Yep, Ellsworth. Tourist season is dwindling down now the fair is over this weekend but there are still some nice weekends left to go catch Rushmore and everything. The Aircraft museum out here is pretty nice. It has some unique pieces in it.
